Fabled Tails Entlebuchers

Fabled Tails Entlebuchers is an approved NEMDA BCOE (Breeder Code of Ethics) breeder. We are a small breeding program focused on the preservation of this exceptional breed. Our goal is to produce healthy, well-tempered dogs while maintaining the qualities that make the Entlebucher so special. We believe responsible breeding should always prioritize health, temperament, structure, and genetic diversity. As a BCOE breeder, we follow rigorous health and temperament testing, with health results listed with the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA).

We are also passionate about showcasing the Entle’s versatility and natural abilities through participation in dog sports. Whether in nose work, agility, flyball, or other activities, these sports highlight the intelligence, athleticism, working ability, and temperament that define the breed. Training and competing with our own dogs strengthens the bond between handler and dog while honoring the Entlebucher’s heritage and purpose.

Above all, we are dedicated to preserving the Entlebucher Mountain Dog and producing dogs that excel both as devoted companions and capable teammates.

Entlebucher Mountain Dog

Also known as Entlebucher Sennenhund or Entlebucher Cattle Dog, the Entlebucher Mountain Dog is the smallest of the four tri-color Swiss Mountain Dog breeds.

Historically, the Swiss “Sennen” (alpine dairymen) used them to move cattle between valleys and high mountain pastures for summer grazing. Entlebuchers are drovers with an upright herding style, using their body, voice and mouth to move livestock. Bred for independent decision-making, they are energetic, tireless workers. The National Entlebucher Mountain Dog Association (NEMDA) describes them as versatile, medium sized dogs who are fiercely loyal with huge personalities. The Entlebucher is robust, extremely agile and strong, with bright, intelligent, friendly facial expressions.

Entlebuchers thrive when they have a job to do alongside their people. This high-energy breed requires daily physical and mental activity. Entles can be aloof with strangers, but they closely bond with their families and are often especially devoted to their chosen person. Because of their strong attachment to their people, Entlebuchers do not do well when left alone for extended periods of time.

We are looking to match the best homes for each puppy from this litter. We are looking for people who:

have researched this breed and have possibly met an Entlebucher to ensure the breed is a good fit;
have an active lifestyle that includes their puppy as a member of their family throughout its life;
will spend the time to appropriately train, socialize, and exercise their puppy for its lifetime;
will do the required health testing throughout the dog’s life to contribute to our understanding of the link between health and genetics going forward into the future;
will become a member and participate or contribute in a variety of ways within the National Entlebucher Mountain Dog Association (NEMDA) for the life of the dog; and
will delay spaying or neutering until the puppy’s growth plates have closed and they have reached maturity, for orthopedic health and longevity.
